There is nothing quite like the crunch of freshly fallen leaves under your feet, or breaking out your hoodies to go for a stroll in the crisp and cooler air. Autumn is just beginning, and I for one, am more than a little excited for it to be here! In addition to the absolutely gorgeous colors that dot the trees, fall in Sussex county also means the arrival of those yummy pumpkin flavored coffees, cocoas, pies, and more. The scent of pine fills the air, as another beautiful season arrives.
|See what I mean? It is GORGEOUS here!|
Anywho, another thing, in addition to devouring as many flavored lattes as I can handle, is to head out to the local pumpkin patches and apple orchards. There is just something comforting about the relaxing atmosphere of a farm, they're beautiful places. Plus, Syrus has a blast choosing a pumpkin that he wants, which we then take home and have fun decorating!
But, quite a few of our typical pumpkin hunting haunts have recently gone out of business in the area. The closest one that I know of is about 45 minutes to an hour away, and honestly, with the gas prices always rising, I can't justify driving that far to get a pumpkin. But on the same hand, I don't just want to pick one up from the grocery store, either. There's really no magic in that.
I thought we really would have to forego a pumpkin picking autumn adventure this year. Until I was perusing Facebook the other day. Recently, an old friend from middle school just got married. The ceremony and reception were held on a beautiful farm in Warwick, New York. From the pictures I saw, I became intrigued about this beautiful place and was off to Google to find out as much information as I could about it. Because Warwick, from where we are, is a little less than 20 minutes away.
Wright Family Farm is a gorgeous family run farm filled with tons of fun activities for everyone to enjoy. Not only do they offer pick-your-own pumpkins, but they have free hayrides, a barnyard, pedal tractors for the kids, pony rides, a corn maze (seriously, I love those things!), some super delicious home-cooked foods like pie, freshly baked breads, home-grown produce and more. They even have duck races. Now, who doesn't love a good duck race. I think that Syrus will totally get a kick out of that. Heck, I think we all will!
But seriously, I can't get over how big this maze is. It's not a rinky-dink maze, oh no. This is a bona-fide work of art. Here, take a look.
Not to mention the size of their pumpkins...
Syrus has been absolutely obsessed with goats lately, so he's gonna get a really big thrill when he sees these beauties!
So, needless to say, that my family and I are going to be making a visit to the Wright Family Farm very soon. I can't wait to see what else is in store for us there! But there is one thing I know for sure, there will be plenty of happy memories made that day.
Our readers can score a coupon for 33% off admission to the corn maze and barnyard! That's an a-maze-ing deal!
