With every new day comes brand new opportunities. Also, it's another new day, where I have absolutely no clue what is going to come tumbling out of my three year-old's mouth. I have to admit, that I love the pure place of innocence that everything he says comes from. He really has no idea what he is saying, he doesn't yet have that "filter" that we as adults have. He is still coming into his own and finding his own voice, which usually results in some form of humor for us grown-ups.
But, I digress. I felt the need to share his latest adventure! Syrus is learning how to bake from his grandma, my mother-in-law. She is a stellar cook and an awesome baker. So Syrus naturally wants to hang out with "Nanny" when we're visiting them, and even more so wants to help her when she is baking or cooking. The last time that we were up there, she happened to be making whoopie pies. Syrus was very excited when he heard this, despite the fact that he has never had a whoopie pie before.
So, we got Sy-Guy cleaned up and ready to help Nanny bake. Grabbed him a chair to stand on (he's still very much a wee little thing,) and they set off to working on the whoopie pies. Let me tell you - the smell permeating that house was heavenly. So, after they were all baked up and ready, they were put on trays to cool. My mother-in-law set off to making dinner and that was that. Or so we thought. After we all sat down to a lovely dinner together, and Syrus got his bath, he runs into the kitchen points to the whoopie pies and screams rather loudly...IT'S WHOOPIE TIME!!!!!!!!
Needless to say, everyone in the room immediately cracked up and we all had a good laugh for about the next ten minutes or so. It's moments like this that my son makes me incredibly proud.
